Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Matz Sels has spoken of his delight at signing a new contract at the City Ground.

The Belgium international has made 58 appearances for the Reds since arriving from Strasbourg in February 2024, establishing himself as a key player under Nuno Espírito Santo.

The 33-year-old spoke to Forest TV after putting pen to paper on fresh terms, saying: “I’m really happy. We had an amazing season last year and I was one small part of that, so I’m really happy to sign a new contract.

“Hopefully we can continue together and have some great moments again this season.

“I’m looking forward to playing in Europe because it’s really something special. Playing in this stadium and playing in big games in the Premier League is also really special.”

Sels’ new contract comes on the back of an incredible season for the shot-stopper, winning the Premier League Golden Glove award after keeping 13 clean sheets.

“I was really happy,” he continued. “It’s an individual prize, but of course you cannot win this all alone, so it was a great team effort.

“After the season, it was really nice and I started to realise that it was a big trophy to win, but now it’s a new season.

“We start again from zero and I will try to do everything I can to help the team, and to give 100% for the supporters and for everyone who loves Nottingham Forest.”
