Nottingham Forest is delighted to confirm Matz Sels has agreed a new contract with the Club.
The Belgian stopper had a fine season in 2024/25 and his 13 clean sheets saw him become the first Forest player to win the prestigious Golden Glove.
Having joined the Club on deadline day in February 2024, Sels has gone on to make 58 appearances for Forest. Helping the club retain their Premier League status in his first six months, the keeper then played every minute as Forest secured European football with a seventh placed finish.
As well as his form in the league, Sels made a big impact in Forest’s FA Cup run in 2025, making big saves in the penalty shootout wins against Exeter City, Ipswich Town and in the quarter final against Brighton & Hove Albion.
For the national team, Sels has never been on the losing side in any of his nine caps and has started the Red Devils’ last three games in 2025.
On agreeing a new deal, Sels said: “I’m really happy. We had an amazing season last year and I was one small part of that, so I’m really happy to sign a new contract.
“Hopefully we can continue together and have some great moments again this season.
“I’m looking forward to playing in Europe because it’s really something special. Playing in this stadium and playing in big games in the Premier League is also really special."
Chief Football Officer, Ross Wilson, said: “Matz is an experienced goalkeeper who has been consistently performing at a high level for a number of years. He made a big impact on the team last season and is an important part of our group.”
“He has earned the new deal, and we’re excited to see how he keeps improving and helping the team moving forward.”
