Nottingham Forest picked up a point against Leicester City at The City Ground in the Premier League this afternoon.

After falling behind to Conor Coady’s early header, goals in either half from first Morgan Gibbs-White to bring the Reds level before Chris Wood headed Forest into the lead 10 minutes into the second period.

Facundo Buonanotte equalised the visitors level once more with 10 minutes remaining on Trentside.

Forest started brightly at The City Ground with Wood hooking the ball onto the roof of the net from Anthony Elanga’s cross on two minutes.

Minutes later from the opposite flank, Wood was on the end of an Ola Aina cross, with his headed effort going just over the Leicester bar.

Despite the constant Forest pressure, the visitors opened the scoring on 17 minutes when Coady headed the ball into the net after Matz Sels had denied Bilal El Khannouss.

However, after eight more minutes of Forest pressure, the Reds had the equaliser through Gibbs-White.

The Forest no. 10 rose highest from Elanga’s out swinging free-kick to nod the ball beyond Jakub Stolarczyk bringing Forest deservedly level.

Nuno Espírito Santo’s side continued on the front foot and almost took the lead on the stroke of half time when Nicolás Domínguez played a clever one-two with Neco Williams before forcing the Leicester stopper into a flying save, before Wood put the rebound over the bar.

With Wood’s effort the final action of the first 45, the sides went in all square at the break.

HALF TIME: Forest 1-1 Leicester City

Forest started the second period in the same way they ended the first when Ibrahim Sangaré’s whipped cross was just out of Domínguez’s reach at the back post.

Domínguez came close again on 52 minutes when Elanga’s deflected cross found its way to the Forest midfielder who got his head to the ball, but Stolarczyk held onto the effort.

With the pressure mounting, Forest finally netted the third goal of the game on 56 minutes through Wood.

Gibbs-White’s stunning delivery picked out Wood who peeled off Coady’s back to head the ball into the Leicester goal for his 20th Premier League goal of a stunning campaign for the Forest forward.

The Reds enjoyed all the play in the second 45, but the visitors brought themselves level on 80 minutes through substitute Buonanotte.

The result ensures Forest will play European football for the first time since the 1995/96 campaign.

Forest travel to West Ham United next weekend in what is our final Premier League away trip of the season.
