Gary, who joined the club in 2012, now takes up the role of Director of Football Development. He will contribute to the development of the club's football philosophy and will be responsible for the academy programme, the domestic scouting and the loan programme of the club.

Speaking about his new long-term role, Gary paid testament to the club's commitment to expanding the academy and how it has become central to the development of the football department as a whole.

He said: “Since the new ownership arrived at the club, their commitment to the further development of the academy has never wavered. I'm delighted they have shown the faith in me to extend my contract and am excited for what the future holds.

"The identification and talent development has now become central to the club’s football strategy, and I feel we can have a real influence in creating a philosophy which is built into the ethos of the club. The further development of the academy continues to be the club’s priority and an official application for category 1 status has been made recently. To achieve this would propel the club amongst the elite which can only benefit everyone connected to Nottingham Forest and the future talent development programme."
