The academy graduate had a fine 2019-20 campaign, deservedly picking up the club’s Player of the Season award having adjusted to a new position at right back and excelling with consistent performances.

His displays regularly saw him named in the Team of the Week throughout the season and he now departs for the Premier League with Aston Villa.

A much-loved member of the first-team squad, Matty excelled coming through the club’s academy, showing the character traits that epitomise what Nottingham Forest is about.

His determination to always improve saw him bridge the gap to the senior squad, making his first-team debut at the start of the 2016-17 season and cementing his place in the first team with passionate performances.

Cash’s many qualities endeared him to the supporters and he has been a firm fan favourite as he gave his all in every match, whatever position he played.

After 141 appearances and 13 goals in the Garibaldi, Matty will be greatly missed around The City Ground by players and staff alike and the club would like to thank him for his efforts on the pitch, his work in the community off the pitch and we wish him the best of luck for the future.
