Forest face their first home game of the new campaign and, after two defeats on the road at Barnsley and QPR in the Carabao Cup and the league respectively, Lamouchi is looking for his side to show more strength to get a result.
He said: “After the defeat, we want to be stronger, more solid and it is not an easy process to change a mentality but we are in a good way.
“The new players need a little bit of time but we don’t have time. We need points and to win, to find the same spirit as last season.
“We changed some players but we don’t want to change the mentality, we want to increase it to be stronger, more solid and not easy to play against, while playing with more quality and control the game more.”
Cardiff reached the play-offs at the end of last season with a strong run of form but have also stuttered at the start of the new campaign, losing their opening two fixtures also.
But Lamouchi is under no illusion that it will be an easy game and hopes he can applaud a good performance and result at the end of the 90 minutes on Saturday.
He said: “We will face a difficult team on Saturday, they need points like us in the second game only, and we need to focus only on that.
“We need to try our best but with a little bit different from the game on Saturday. We gave them the points, we gave them the goal and the mistakes, and we need to avoid those mistakes.
“We need to play more and to play more, we need confidence. That is always after a good result, a good performance and hopefully on Saturday I can say that after the game.
“The game against Cardiff will be a tough game against a tough team, but I am not sure it will be easy for them to play against Forest.”
