Nottingham Forest salvaged a point thanks to a last-gasp Lewis Grabban penalty as they came from behind to draw 1-1 with Birmingham City.
The Reds struggled to get going throughout the 90 minutes in a game lacking in real quality and looked to be heading back across the Midlands with zero points after Marc Roberts gave Blues the lead at the start of the second half.
But deep into injury time Grabban kept his cool to convert from 12 yards and secure a point for The Reds to ensure they hit the 50-point mark in their Championship season.
Chris Hughton made two changes to the side which lost against Huddersfield on the weekend, with Grabban and Anthony Knockaert making way for Lyle Taylor and Luke Freeman.
There was a slow start to the game as both sides battled for control of the opening stages, with Birmingham looking the more threatening coming forward as Scott Hogan looked like meeting a dangerous cross into the area but couldn't connect, and a teasing cross from Ivan Sanchez looked like it was heading for Lukas Jutkiewicz's head but it was too much for the Blues striker and didn't trouble the Forest defence.
The game had little in the way of quality as a direct approach from the home side saw plenty of balls played into the box, especially from the long throw-in of Marc Roberts, with Lucas Jutkiewicz testing Brice Samba with a powerful header from a corner as the game sparked a bit of life towards the end of the half.
Forest's best opening came on 42 minutes as a deep cross from Freeman into the box found Ryan Yates at the back post and he managed to connect with a header which crashed against the crossbar with Neil Etheridge beaten.
The second half started with a bit more urgency on the ball from Blues and on 48 Sanchez cut inside from the right to test Samba with a fierce left-footed shot which he parried away from danger, but the Forest keeper was beaten just a minute later as Roberts was unmarked at the back post from a Sanchez corner to head into the net and give the home side the lead.
James Garner flashed an effort wide of the target on 56 and Taylor had a great chance on 60 minutes as he latched onto a back header from Roberts but was denied by a smart low save from Etheridge, with Taylor taking a whack in the process which saw him withdrawn from the match in one of three changes as Forest looked for a way back into the match.
Grabban, Anthony Knockaert and Glenn Murray all came on but despite the added firepower on the pitch, The Reds found it difficult to create any openings and it was the home side who almost added to their tally as Roberts again met the ball in the area with a header but this time Samba was equal to it to keep the score at one.
It wasn't Forest's night and it was almost summed up when The Reds gifted the ball to Birmingham from their own free kick in Blues' half, allowing the home side to counter attack and charge on goal, with Riley McGree getting a shot away which Samba did well to kick away with his legs.
As the game went into seven minutes of added time, The Reds pushed forward with Joe Worrall and Scott McKenna driving forward from the back, with the Scot playing an influential part in helping secure a late point as his bravery in the box saw him beat Jutkiewicz to the ball and win a penalty.
Grabban stepped up to shoot past the despairing dive of Etheridge and snatch a precious point for Forest to take back to Nottingham.
