Nottingham Forest were made to settle for a point against Bristol City this afternoon as they couldn't take advantage of their dominance at Ashton Gate.
The Reds dominated the ball for the majority of the game and had the better openings but were unable to make it count in the goalless draw, with Alex Mighten coming closest for The Reds by hitting the post in the first half.
Former Red Henri Lansbury also hit the woodwork for the home side in one of their few efforts on goal but it was another clean sheet for Forest and another point on the board to extend their positive run of results.
Chris Hughton made one change to the side which defeated Queens Park Rangers on Easter Monday, with Anthony Knockaert coming in for the injured Sammy Ameobi, and Forest made a positive start to the game.
The Reds were in control of the ball and looked most likely to make something happen, with Knockaert flashing an effort wide of the target and Joe Worrall seeing a header comfortably saved. The confidence from the successive wins over the Easter weekend was clear as Forest moved the ball about well while Bristol City struggled to get a foothold in the match inside the opening stages.
On 27 minutes The Reds had their first real moment in front of goal as a swift counter attack from Brice Samba saw Forest charge forward through James Garner. The on-loan Manchester United man found Alex Mighten in the area, with the winger showing quick feet to work some space and get a shot away which cannoned off the base of Dan Bentley's near post and away from danger.
Ryan Yates then tried his luck from distance a minute later, which his deflected effort dipping over Bentley but it dropped just the wrong side of the post with the Robins keeper scrambling back towards his goalline.
Forest continued to look the better side but had a scare as the game edged towards half-time, with former Forest midfielder Henri Lansbury curling a free kick from the edge of the box against the post with Samba stranded.
A positive half but nothing to show for it for Forest, who started the second period in the same manner as Garner curled a fine effort from distance just over the crossbar. But after that opening for The Reds, the game turned scrappy as both sides were struggling to gain any momentum, with passes going astray and there being little in the way of goalmouth action.
As the game headed into the final 20 minutes, Forest picked up the tempo again and were probing for a way through, with Knockaert finding himself driving into the penalty area on numerous occasions but the City defence standing firm to head his crosses clear. Forest did get an effort on goal on 77 as Cyrus Christie's drilled low effort was well kept out by Bentley at his near post.
As the game entered five minutes of added time, Forest continued to come forward and Christie's deep cross found substitute Luke Freeman at the back post who hit a first-time volley just over the bar, and that was the last of the goalmouth action as the two side's had to settle for a point.
