Nottingham Forest manager Chris Hughton said his side will be going all out to get the three points against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.
The Reds can have a big say in the battle at the bottom of the table as they face a Sheffield Wednesday side who could be relegated from the division with defeat, and Hughton said he will be targeting three points at Hillsborough.
He said: “We have two games to go, this is the next one and it is a game that we want to win for a couple of reasons. For respect to this league as there is something on this game, which means that we have a duty to do the best that we can, and also because we have a duty to do the best that we can for the club, the players, ourselves and we want to win both of these games to finish as strongly as we can.
“I am conscious of what the game means to Sheffield Wednesday and the fact that they have moved the kick-off time for television. I am very sure that whoever we were playing, even if it was a team that had already secured a play-off for example, I would put out the best team that I can to win the game and that is what I will do.”
Hughton expects The Owls to give it everything to get the victory, knowing the situation they find themselves in, and also knows that a victory for Forest would help East Midlands rivals Derby County in their efforts to avoid the drop.
He said: “They have to throw everything at us and they can’t rely on other results. This is management and coaching and it is how you approach the game. They will make decisions on how they approach the game, how they can win it at any stage of the game depending on what the result will be and what steps they will have to take. If they are leading, do they make sure that they don’t lose, for example, so there are so many different connotations. That is what will make it intriguing for anyone watching the game.
“It is strange, I must admit [potentially helping out Derby County] but these are normal emotions and normal supporter emotions that will be exactly the same up and down the country respective to their own clubs. But for us, we have to look at it as a game, we have two games left and it would be nice if we could finish the season with two wins and what that will give us going into the summer with perhaps a bit of a spring in our step.”
Nottingham Forest will join other teams and organisations across English football in taking part in a social media boycott this weekend to pressure social media companies into taking stronger action to prevent online abuse and have greater accountability for their platforms.
Hughton is in full support of the action being taken across the game but knows that it is just the first step.
He said: “I, as is the club, am in full support. I don’t have a full grasp of social media and have never been on it, but there isn’t a weekend that goes by or a gameday that goes by without some type of abuse on social media.
“The headlines are always with the big clubs and top players but it is an equal amount to the players playing throughout the divisions.
“Somebody mentioned the other day about how many billion people are on social media so with regards to a stance, it is a very small step but it is what it will take. It will take big organisations, big personalities to put their stamp on it and refuse to accept it and that will eventually make the difference.”
