Tyler Blackett was part of a Nottingham Forest defence that kept a vital clean sheet in the 1-0 win at Cardiff City on Good Friday and the defender was thrilled by The Reds' defensive display.
Forest had to contend with an aerial bombardment from Mick McCarthy's high-flying Bluebirds and Blackett admitted they were delighted to come away from such a tough away game with three points and a clean sheet.
Speaking after the game, he said: "It was a very difficult game. We know what they're like, they're a strong side who play a lot of direct balls into the box so it was a lot to deal with at times but I thought we did well. The gaffer said at the end how well we did to cope with that many long throws and free-kicks into the box but it's just about staying switched on and staying with your men and I thought the boys put in a great shift.
"It was relentless because the ball was coming straight back all the time but we defended really well and we've come away with the three points. James took his goal really well because the ball was bouncing and he showed great composure to produce a great finish so we're delighted for him.
"I think we needed that win today as a confidence boost. It has been a stop-start season for us because we've won a couple then lost a couple and it hasn't been a great run recently but it gives us a great confidence boost going into Monday's game. It's the old cliche but we just have to take it game by game between now and the end of the season and try to pick up as many points as possible to make sure we make ourselves safe as soon as we can.
"From a personal point of view it's about doing what I can in every game, working as hard as possible and hoping the manager gives me the shirt for the next game. We all have a friendly rivalry but in training we all want to push each other on to be better and competition for places is always a good thing for any team."
