Nottingham Forest are delighted to confirm the loan signing of Max Lowe from Sheffield United.

Lowe, who is contracted to The Blades until 2024, joins Chris Hughton’s men for the remainder of the 2021-22 season.

The 24 year-old left back joined United last year from Derby County in a joint deal with Jayden Bogle reportedly worth £15m.

Max also enjoyed loan spells earlier in his career at Shrewsbury and Aberdeen, where he played alongside Scott McKenna.

He has made over 100 senior appearances and is The Reds fifth signing of the summer transfer window, joining goalkeeper Ethan Horvath, and fellow loanees Philip Zinckernagel from Watford, Jordi Osei-Tutu from Arsenal and James Garner from Manchester United.

Lowe will take the number 15 shirt and is available for selection for Saturday’s derby at Pride Park (kick-off 12.30pm). He has experience of The Brian Clough Trophy having played in both the 2019-20 season fixtures which resulted in a Forest win at The City Ground and Derby claiming an injury time draw in the return at Pride Park.

Nottingham Forest manager Chris Hughton said: “I am delighted to get another signing with Championship experience in Max.

“He is at a good age and is in a position where we need competition. He still has some development in him and I am looking forward to working with him over the season.”

Max Lowe said: “This was an opportunity I couldn't turn down. After speaking to the manager, it was a no brainer. As a player, you get that feel and move into a club and it felt comfortable. And I'm happy to be here and get started.

“I want to be a regular in the team and help the team get wins and climb up the table.

“When asked about Saturday’s match at Derby, Lowe said: “I know the rivalry very well but I know what shirt I have on this season and I'm proud to be here and will give it my all.”
