Nottingham Forest are delighted to confirm the second signing of the summer, with Philip Zinckernagel joining on a season-long loan from Premier League Watford.
Zinckernagel won promotion with The Hornets last season after joining from FK Bodo/Glimt in Norway on a five year deal in January.
The Dane, who can play on the wing or in midfield, made nine starts, scoring once and with five assists, as Watford returned to the Premier League at the first attempt.
The 26 year-old was born in Copenhagen and had spells at Nordsjælland, HB Køge, FC Helsingør and SønderjyskE in Denmark before moving to Norway in 2018.
In 2020, he scored 22 goals in 31 appearances in the Norwegian Eliteserien before Watford fought off strong competition for his signature.
Zinckernagel started for Watford against Forest in March at Vicarage Road when The Reds lost to an early Adam Masina goal.
Philip Zinckernagel said: “I’m really happy and excited to join Nottingham Forest. My first impressions are really positive. There are good facilities and everybody has been very friendly.
“I’ve come here to play and help the club reach its’ goals. The Championship is the toughest league in the world and you have to try and be consistent.
“I’m a winger or offensive midfielder who likes to dribble and I’m so happy to play in front of the best fans in the Championship.”
Chris Hughton said: “I’m delighted to get an offensive player of the calibre of Philip into the squad.
“He can play in various positions which gives us flexibility that is really important in the Championship.
“He also got valuable Championship experience playing in a promotion winning side at Watford and I look forward to working with him over the season.”
Zinckernagel, who will wear the number 11 shirt, is training with the first team squad for the first time this afternoon and is eligible for tomorrow’s opening fixture at Coventry City (4.30pm kick off).
