Ryan Yates wants he and his teammates to be more ruthless as Forest return to league action against Peterborough United this weekend.

The Reds are unbeaten in six and have only lost one of their last 13 games in the Championship, on the back of playing three games in the space of six days last week.

Steve Cooper's side drew 1-1 at Reading before being held to goalless draws against Luton Town and West Bromwich Albion on Tuesday and Friday night respectively.

After an eight-day lay-off, Forest return to action with a home fixture against Peterborough United on Saturday at 3pm, with Yates wanting his side to be productive in front of goal.

He said: “If you look at the West Brom game as an example, in our heads we were favourites. People may not think that, but that’s exactly how the manager set us up and that’s his mentality he’s given to the team.

“We don’t care that they are West Brom and they are unbeaten at home all season, we felt like we were favourites and should be doing more to break them down, especially when they had 10 men.

“We all have to take responsibility as players, from the back line all the way up, to create more chances and apply more pressure. You look at the Luton game and they created a lot of chances, Brice has had to save a penalty and make another unbelievable save.

“If West Brom are going to keep a clean sheet against us then we have to be doing that to them. The goalkeeper has to be pulling off unbelievable saves and we need to create more chances. That’s the mentality at the minute.”

Forest are set to be backed by potentially one of their largest crowds of the season with around 28,000 set to be in attendance at The City Ground this weekend.

The Reds will be looking to repay that support by recording only their third home win of the season, having won only twice on home soil so far this term.

“To be honest, it’s not good enough," Yates added. "We know that and we speak about it in the dressing room as players and the manager.

“If we want to be right up there, we need to have really good home form. You look at all the top teams in the division throughout the years and they’ve all had really solid home form.

“If you win your games at home, it sort of takes the pressure off you a little bit when you go away, whereas we’ve been good on the counter-attack and picked up good results away from home.

“If teams are going to come here and respect us at home and sit in a low block, we need to be able to break them down and I’m sure it’ll be exactly the same on Saturday.

“I have no doubt that we will dominate the ball and we’ll have to probe and improve on that front. If we can mix that up away from home, it’ll be a really good blend for us.”
