Gareth Ainsworth's men have continued to battle hard despite finding life tough in the Sky Bet Championship and Hughton says The Chairboys' boss and his side deserve huge respect and if Forest don't produce their best performance then they are likely to come unstuck in Buckinghamshire this weekend.
Speaking ahead of the game, he said: "What you need when you play Wycombe is complete commitment and the right attitude because they will always give it everything and you need to make sure you match that. To say they are simply a direct side is doing them an injustice because they have some quality players in their team and results this season have shown that. At home they've held teams like Watford, Brentford and most recently Birmingham so they enjoy playing on their own turf.
"Gareth has done a magnificent job there and he is someone who is heavily involved with the League Managers' Association so it's great to see him doing so well. Wycombe's rise through the leagues has been tremendous and although their resources mean they have found this season difficult, they are still a very competitive side who will battle for every single ball and make life extremely tough for us.
"We had an excellent result on Tuesday night, one that was very well earned on a difficult pitch, but now we need to go and back that up on Saturday. No game in this division is worth more or fewer points than any other so we have to make sure we are at 100% on Saturday to get a result which will put a little more space between ourselves and the bottom three."
Hughton will be able to call upon Yuri Ribeiro following the completion of his three-match suspension and the Forest boss is delighted to have the Portuguese back as the hectic Sky Bet Championship schedule continues at Adams Park this weekend.
He said: "Having Yuri back is very much a boost for us because it gives us competition at left-back but that is a position where Gaetan has come in and done very well. Add in the fact we were able to get Tyler back on the pitch at Coventry on Tuesday night and we are starting to look at having a number of options there which means difficult but nice decisions for me to have to make.
"The weekend's game will come a little bit early for Ryan Yates but we're hopeful that he will be available for Bournemouth next Saturday. Samba Sow and Harry Arter will also miss out but it was good to see Jack Colback back in action in the week and he did very well to come on and perform well after only a couple of training sessions following his return from injury.
"It was disappointing for Alex Mighten to miss out on Tuesday but that's a sign of the strength in depth we have in the squad as people get back to fitness. Alex has trained very well though and he is certainly in my plans and may well start games for us between now and the end of the season. There are always difficult decisions to make when it comes to the team but there are now tough choices for me to make for the bench as well."
