The highly-rated 19-year-old spent the first half of the season on loan at Championship side Watford but now joins up with Chris Hughton’s side for the rest of the campaign.
Primarily a central midfielder, Garner is capable of playing in either a deep or advanced midfield role and is a creative and influential operator with an excellent passing range.
Garner was named Manchester United’s Under-23 Player of the Year in the 2019-20 season, scoring eight goals in 10 Premier League 2 games and captained the team for much of the season and he also made three appearances for the first team in the Europa League.
On the international stage, Garner also captained England’s Under-17s during the 2018 European Championships as they reached the semi-final stage and he also played five times for the England Under-19 side last season.
Manager Chris Hughton said of Garner: “James is a promising young talent in central midfield and that is an area where we’ve had injury problems and players missing in recent weeks.
“He has completed a good spell at Watford where he has picked up some much-needed Championship experience and we’re confident he will be a valuable asset to us between now and the end of the season.”
