The 25-year-old midfielder has been on loan at Premier League West Bromwich Albion but now joins up with Chris Hughton’s squad until the end of the season.

Krovinovic was popular figure at The Hawthorns where he played over 50 times, including both fixtures against Forest last season, and was an integral part of Albion’s promotion campaign.

An attacking midfielder with over 200 career appearances and 25 goals, the Croatian started his career with NK Zagreb, winning the Croatian second tier title in 2013-14. He moved to Portugal in 2015 to feature for Rio Ave and then Benfica, winning the Primeira Liga title with the Lisbon giants in 2018-19.

Manager Chris Hughton said of Krovinovic: “Filip comes with good pedigree and a player we’ve been tracking for a while.

We have found it difficult to get the goals that we’ve needed to win more games so this is an area we’ve been looking to strengthen.

In Filip we have a creative player who played a full season of Championship last year so knows the division. This had a strong bearing in my thinking and, from an offensive point of view, he gives us more options”

Krovinovic is ineligible for Saturday’s Emirates FA Cup clash against Swansea City but joins the squad for the remainder of the season, with the league programme resuming next Saturday against Barnsley at The City Ground.

Forest can also confirm that Zach Clough has left the club and joined Wigan Athletic on a permanent deal. The club like to thank Zach for his efforts and wish him well for the future.
