Nottingham Forest are delighted to announce the first signing of the summer as US national team goalkeeper Ethan Horvath arrives on Trentside from Club Brugge.
The keeper spent just over four years with the Belgian Pro League outfit and now joins up with Chris Hughton’s side after agreeing a three-year contract.
Horvath won man of the match in the CONCACAF Nations League final last month, after saving a penalty in the last minute of extra time as the USA beat Mexico 3-2 to win the trophy for the first time.
He began his youth career with his native Real Colorado before being recruited for Norwegian side Molde by current Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjær.

The 6' 3" shot-stopper made his professional debut in 2015 under Solskjær and played an instrumental part in MFK’s success that season. MFK possessed the second-best defensive record in the Norwegian top flight conceding just 31 goals in just 30 matches.
The US international also enjoyed an impressive Europa League campaign, helping Molde to the Round of 32 after they beat Ajax, Celtic and Fenerbache in the group stages.
Horvath made a total of 56 appearances for Solskjær’s men before joining Brugge in 2017, initially as a #2. Having forced his way into the side, Horvath then helped Brugge to the Belgian top division title in his first full season, whilst also featuring in the Champions League.
The 26-year-old went onto win two more Belgian Pro League titles with the club before becoming a national hero in the US this summer.
Horvath said: “It feels great to be here. Nottingham Forest is such a historic club. I really like the stadium and training ground and the people have been fantastic. It’s a new challenge for me. I’m hoping all my experience can help Forest.
“I’ve heard about the fans and the 30,000 crowds and that even when it’s not full, it’s loud.
“The shirt carries a lot of history and I’m proud to be part of that history.”
Forest manager Chris Hughton says he's pleased to get the deal done: "We are delighted to be signing somebody of Ethan's calibre. He has plenty of valuable experience in Europe with clubs of good pedigree and in European competition," he said.
"He will give us valuable competition in the goalkeeping department and we look forward to working with Ethan."
