Nottingham Forest Women are delighted to announce the signings of Sophie Bramford and Freya Thomas.

Bramford signs having come through the Aston Villa Academy whereas Thomas joins the Reds after leaving Championship winners Leicester City at the end of the 2020/21 season.

Bramford, 18, says she is delighted to join up with Andy Cook's side:

“I’m really excited to get going,” said Bramford.

“We want to achieve promotion and hopefully I can be impactful whenever I get on the pitch and make a difference. I'll look to bring creativity to the team and hopefully some goals.

"The vision they have here for the club and the ambitions of where they want to be are really promising and I can't wait to get started."

Speaking for the first time as a Nottingham Forest player, Freya said: “The ambition of the club matches my own and I knew instantly that this was a journey I wanted to be part of.

"The set up here is very good, and I am excited for what I can bring to this team to help it be a success.

"Promotion is the aim, for the season as a whole, that is what all the girls and the staff are aiming for. I want to bring a positive, winning mentality. For me, mentality is what wins you games, so having confidence and determination across the pitch is important."

On his new recruits, Andy Cook said: "To bring in Freya, a Championship standard player involved in a promotion with Leicester, shows the level of ambition we have.

"I’m also delighted that Sophie has joined. She’s a dynamic midfielder and will add great quality to the squad and impressed in training and got on well with everyone in the group.

"I can't wait to see how we perform this season."

Bramford and Thomas are the fifth and sixth new signings this summer with The Reds having already added Jade Arber, Becky Anderson, Amy West and Emily Batty to their ranks.
