The Reds were drawn at home to League Two’s Bradford City in today’s Carabao Cup first round draw.
The match is scheduled to take place week commencing Monday, 9th August.
The clubs have met frequently in the competition, the last occasion when the Bantams won 2-1 at Valley Parade in the first round in 2010. The season before in the same round, The Reds were victorious 3-0 at The City Ground with goals from Paul Anderson, Dexter Blackstock and Lewis McGugan.
The teams also met in the in the second round of the 1995/96 competition with The Bantams surprisingly winning 5-4 over two legs in the season that The Reds reached the quarter finals of the UEFA Cup.
Back in 1986, The Reds won 5-0 at the Odsall Stadium in the fourth round before losing at Arsenal in the quarter finals.
The EFL and Carabao have today announced a further two-year extension to their partnership that will see the energy drinks brand remain title sponsor of the competition until 2024.
