Nottingham Forest are sorry to hear about the passing of Reg Dove, a former director of the club.
Reg sadly lost his battle against cancer on Wednesday at the age of 78.
Reg was a director from 1995 to 2007 and was instrumental in securing the land on Wilford Lane and setting up the youth academy which continues to produce so many fine players for The Reds’ first team.
The club invited Reg back to The City Ground recently where he caught up with Andy Reid, our Under 23 coach, who he helped when he first came to the club from Ireland in the late 1990s.
Andy Reid said: “Reg was a lovely man with good values and principles who really cared about the club and the young players.
“He was very proud of his involvement in the academy and was delighted with how it has developed over the years.
“Reg was a Forest fan so was even more proud when academy players made their senior debut. He was always in and around the academy and was interested in young player development.
“We are proud of our history of developing young players and Reg, along with the likes of Bob Fairhall, have played a key role.”
“Reg will be sadly missed.”
Nicholas Randall, QC, Nottingham Forest FC Chairman said: “On behalf of the club, I extend my deepest sympathies to Marjorie, Reg’s wife, his two children, Julie and Howard, and Reg’s five grandchildren.”
“Reg made an important contribution to Nottingham Forest for which we are all grateful. To see so many players in the first team who have passed through our academy is testament to his efforts.”
