Nottingham Forest Women travel to the north west on Sunday to begin their FAWNL League Cup campaign.

The Reds will play Liverpool Feds in the determining round of the competition with the winner advancing to the FAWNL Cup and the loser moving into the FAWNL Plate.

If the scores are level after 90 minutes, the game will continue to extra time and even penalties if the two sides still cannot be separated.

Liverpool Feds play in the FAWNL Division One North, one league below Forest, where they currently sit in 3rd place with three wins and a defeat from their opening fixtures.

Forest will also be looking to bounce back following a first defeat of the new season on Sunday, losing 1-0 against Wolves Women.

It is expected that both sides could make changes to provide game time to more of the squad.

Andy Cook named an unchanged team for the Wolves fixture following on from a 6-0 victory against Hull City Women the previous week.

However, the Forest boss has plenty of options to choose from, emphasised by the fact Forest Women reserves won 9-0 in their last game.

With no league fixture scheduled for the 19th September, this will be The Reds’ last taste of action before their big match at Eastwood against top of the league Fylde on Sunday 26th September (kick-off 2pm).

Liverpool Feds should not be underestimated though. They won their opening three games without conceding and it took till the 87th minute for Leeds to find a breakthrough.

That late winner means Leeds United Women now sit top of the FAWNL Division One North although have played one game more than both Liverpool Feds and Newcastle.

Forest meanwhile also sit in 3rd place in the FAWNL Northern Premier Division after the opening five games, three points off top.

Both sides have largely lived up to expectations thus far but will want to get back to winning ways after suffering disappointing defeats last time out.
