Forest Women began their 2022/22 FA Women’s National League North campaign with a resounding 6-0 victory over West Bromwich Albion Women.

New signing Sophie Domingo made her first start for The Reds, with new recruit Yasmin Mosby also making the bench.

After a quiet opening 45 minutes, The Reds took the lead on the stroke of half time when Lyndsey Harkin’s corner was met by a bullet header from Charlotte Steggles to give Andy Cook’s side the lead.

Shortly after the interval, The Reds doubled their lead. Becky Anderson hit the post from a free kick with Steggles then hitting the crossbar on the rebound, but Charlotte Greengrass was on-hand to bundle the ball across the line on the follow-up.

In the 66th minute, Forest found a third goal. Anderson played in substitute Gianna Mitchell one-on-one before the American emphatically fired across the goalkeeper and found the bottom corner.

A few minutes later, Anderson deservedly found the net herself to make it 4-0. The midfielder found space on the edge of the area to curl an excellent left-footed shot in off the far post.

With 15 minutes remaining, The Reds scored a fifth goal as Moncaster was released down the right channel before finding the roof of the net with an emphatic finish, as the referee waved away appeals for offside.

There was time for Forest to add a sixth goal as Mosby found the back of the net on her debut. Mitchell was too strong for the full-back as she powered down the left channel and into the area, pulling the ball back across goal for the substitute to bury an effort into the bottom corner.
