Head Coach Steve Cooper says The Reds will need to show commitment and belief on Sunday as Chelsea visit The City Ground for our opening fixture of 2023.
Forest head into the clash against Graham Potter's side off the back of a 3-0 defeat at Manchester United on Tuesday evening, while the outfit from West London defeated Bournemouth 2-0 at Stamford Bridge.
As The Reds begin a busy run of fixtures, Cooper said he and his players need to back themselves and their ability as Forest return to The City Ground for the first time since November's victory against Crystal Palace.
"We'll always follow the preparation that we think is right ahead of any game. It was always going to be tough to go to Old Trafford and get anything out of the game. Looking at ourselves, we've got to do more than we did and make a difference in the games.
"We know Chelsea are going to be tough, they have an incredible squad and had a good win last time out, but we have to really back ourselves. If we are going to do anything in games, we've got to do it ourselves and that starts with believing and committing to what we can bring positively to the match.
"We'll be really clear with our game plan, we're at home and we know the level of atmosphere that our supporters can create for us. We've got to try and thrive off that and give the supporters something to shout about.
"We need to think about what we've done well at home and why we've done well, and do whatever it takes to try and recreate that and improve on it. We love playing at home and there's no guarantees, so we've got to be ready."
Cooper also confirmed that work continues with both Morgan Gibbs-White and Jesse Lingard with a view to having the pair fit for January's busy schedule.
"We're working hard with Morgan and we're trying to push him without risk of any further damage. We've got a busy period coming up so we have to bear those things in mind.
"Jesse came off the other night and we're waiting for that one to settle down but we'll give everybody, including a couple of other kicks and knocks from Tuesday night, every chance we can to have them available this weekend."
