Forest Women have secured the signing of Mackenzie Smith ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.

Smith joins Andy Cook's side on a dual-registration loan from Leicester City Women having just graduated into the professional set-up from The Foxes' Women's WSL Academy.

An England U17 international, the midfielder signs ahead of an exciting season for The Reds who will be looking to build on last season's fifth place finish, a campaign which included 13 league wins as well as a Vitality Women's FA Cup fixture against Manchester City and a record-breaking attendance against Derby County at The City Ground.

On joining Forest Women, Smith said: "I’m really excited to have signed here.

"Forest have a great set up and clear goals for what we want to achieve as a group this season.

"Both players and staff have been welcoming and have helped me to settle in straight away, so now I’m really looking forward to the season ahead."

Securing his first signing of the summer, Head Coach Andy Cook said: "Mackenzie is a hugely exciting prospect and a player that I'm very much looking forward to working with.

"She was known by our First Team Coach, Michael Anderson, having worked with her at Leicester and he spoke very highly of her.

"I spoke with Mackenzie about what she wants to achieve and what we can offer her here in terms of development and we're delighted that she wants to join us at an exciting time.

"For me, she is one of the most exciting prospects in the Midlands and we'll continue to work on her game during her time here and we look forward to seeing how she progresses over the course of the season."

Forest Women return to Eastwood for their next home pre-season fixture against Newcastle United on Sunday 7th August, kick-off 2pm, with free entry for all supporters.
