Brennan Johnson and Steve Cooper have been named the Sky Bet Championship Player of the Month and Manager of the Month for April respectively.
The Reds enjoyed an excellent April to help cement their place in the play-offs, winning seven of their eight games in a busy month.
April began with a resounding 4-1 win at Blackpool, with Johnson scoring twice and registering an assist as The Reds picked up an eye-catching three points at Bloomfield Road.
Forest then secured back-to-back 2-0 home wins over Coventry City and Birmingham City respectively and responded to their only defeat of the month against Luton Town with a comprehensive 4-0 win over West Bromwich Albion at The City Ground.
After a hard-fought 1-0 win on the road at Peterborough, The Reds repeated that scoreline three days later with an impressive victory at champions Fulham. The month was then capped off with a thumping 5-1 win against Swansea back on home soil.
Johnson, who scored four goals and chipped in with four assists in April, fought off stiff competition from Swansea’s Joel Piroe, AFC Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanke and Huddersfield Town’s Harry Toffolo to win the award.
Upon being named the Championship Player of the Month for April, he said: “I’m delighted to have won this award. April was a really hectic month with our fixture schedule and we showed real resilience to win seven matches.
“I am really enjoying my football this season at Forest, but I wouldn’t be able to receive the award without the help of my teammates who have been fantastic for me this campaign.
“Our only focus is now on Sheffield United and carrying our momentum into the play-offs. The club is great place to be around at the moment.”
The Wales international was also named the EFL Young Player of the Month earlier in the season in September and the prestigious Sky Bet Championship Young Player of the Season at last month’s EFL awards. Team mates Ryan Yates, Joe Worrall and Djed Spence were also recognised in the Championship Team of the Season that night.
Head Coach Steve Cooper beat competition from Swansea boss Russell Martin, Huddersfield head coach Carlos Corberan and Millwall manager Gary Rowett to win the Championship award for April.
The award is Cooper’s first of the season after narrowly missing out on the Sky Bet Championship Manager of the Season award.
