Several of our Reds were in international action across the globe this week. We take a closer look at how they fared...

Scott McKenna played 45 minutes as Scotland were narrowly beaten by Turkey at the Diyarbakir Stadium in an international friendly on Wednesday evening, entering the action as a half time subsititute. 

The hosts took a 2-0 lead through former Liverpool loannee Ozan Kabak and Marseille winger Cengiz Ünder, before John McGinn halved the deficit on the hour mark.

Serge Aurier was an unused substitute as his Ivory Coast side cruised past Burundi 4-0 on Wednesday. Jean Philippe Krasso and Max Gradel scored in the opening 45 minutes before Ibrahim Sangaré and Nicolas Pépé completed the victory in the second period.

Ivory Coast were back in action on Saturday as they faced Burkina Faso at Stade de Marrakech, with Aurier playing the full 90 minutes in a 2-1 defeat.

Remo Freuler started for Switzerland as they lost 2-0 to Ghana on Thursday, playing the first half before being withdrawn at the break in Abu Dhabi.

Second half goals from Southampton defender Mohammed Salisu and Bristol City forward Antoine Semenyo earned the victory for Ghana at the Baniyas Club Stadium.

Switzerland begin their World Cup campaign on Thursday as they face Cameroon in Group G.

Emmanuel Dennis featured in the Nigeria squad as they were beaten 4-0 by Portugal on Thursday evening, with Bruno Fernandes (2), Gonçalo Ramos and João Mário on target.

Dennis entered the action as a 76th minute substitute before seeing his penalty hit the post on 81 minutes. 

Mohamed Dräger started for Tunisia as his side beat Iran 2-0 on Wednesday, a penalty from Naim Sliti and Ali Abdi's effort securing a 2-0 win in Doha.

Next up for Dräger and Tunisia is their opening World Cup Group D fixture against Denmark on Tuesday.

Richie Laryea was a substitute for Canada in Thursday's 2-1 win against Japan, playing the final 30 minutes in Dubai. Steven Vítoria cancelled out Yuki Soma's opener before Lucas Cavallini netted a 95th minute penalty to win the match.

Canada begin their World Cup campaign with a Group F fixture against Belgium on Wednesday.
