Eight of our ten Reds featured in the second round of fixtures at the 2022 World Cup. Here, we take a closer look at how they fared heading in to the final games of the group stage..

Remo Freuler played the full fixture for Switzerland as they lost narrowly to Brazil on Monday evening.

Switzerland were undone by Casemiro's late goal, the Manchester United midfielder finding the net with seven minutes remaining at the Stadium 974 in Doha.

Switzerland remain on three points, and sit second in Group G ahead of Friday's crunch tie with Serbia, kick-off 19:00 GMT.

Wayne Hennessey and Neco Williams started for Wales on Friday morning as their nation lost 2-0 against Iran at the Ahmed bin Ali Stadium.

Brennan Johnson appeared from the substitutes bench after 57 minutes, replacing Connor Roberts for his second appearance of the tournament in Qatar.

Goalkeeper Hennessey was called in to action on a couple of occassions, making two fantastic saves in the second half to keep his country in the fixture before being sent off on 86 minutes following a challenge outside his area on Mehdi Taremi.

With the score level heading in to injury time, Iran scored two late goals via Rouzbeh Cheshmi and Ramin Rezaeian to secure the three points.

Wales now sit bottom of Group B ahead of Tuesday's final group fixture against England, kick-off 19:00 GMT.

Brandon Aguilera entered the action as a 65th minute substitute on Sunday afternoon to help Costa Rica to a 1-0 win against Japan in Group E.

Keysher Fuller scored the winning goal after 81 minutes, a victory which hands Costa Rica their first points of the tournament and keeps their hopes of progressing in to the knockout stages alive.

The 19-year-old midfielder joined The Reds in July and has spent the last five months on loan at Guanacasteca in the Costa Rican Fútbol de Primera División.

Aguilera will be hoping for more minutes on Thursday as his nation face Germany, kick-off 19:00 GMT.

Mohamed Dräger started his second consecutive World Cup fixture for Tunisia on Saturday morning as they faced Australia in Group D.

The wing-back, on loan at FC Luzern, played the opening 45 minutes before being withdrawn at the break as his nation lost 1-0, Mitchell Duke's header earning The Socceroos all three points.

Tunisia now sit bottom of their group on one point after two fixtures, with a tough test against France up next on Wednesday with kick-off at 15:00 GMT.

Richie Laryea started for Canada as they lost to Croatia in Group F on Sunday evening, with defeat ending their chances of advancing through to the knockout stages.

Alphonso Davies gave Canada a dream start after just two minutes, scoring his nation's first ever World Cup goal before Andrej Kramaric and Marko Livaja completed a first half turnaround to give Croatia the lead at the break.

Laryea, who is currently on loan at Toronto, played 62 minutes before being withdrawn for Junior Hoilett.

Kramaric then netted his second on 70 minutes before Lovro Majer added an injury time goal to give Croatia a 4-1 victory.

Canada are back in action on Thursday for their final group fixture, facing Morocco with kick-off at 15:00 GMT.

Hwang Ui-jo featured as a 79th minute for South Korea as they lost 3-2 to Ghana in an entertaining fixture on Monday afternoon.

Ghana raced in to a 2-0 lead before Cho Gue-Sung scored two quick-fire goals to level the score in the second half. 

Hwang, currently on loan at Olympiacos, replaced Jung Woo-Young for the closing stages which included ten minutes of additional time but South Korea couldn't quite find a late leveller.

South Korea sit on one point after two games and face Portugal next time out in Group H on Friday, kick-off 15:00 GMT.

Goalkeeper Ethan Horvath, currently on loan at Luton Town, was among the substitutes as USA drew 0-0 with England on Friday evening, handing them their second point of the campaign so far.

Next up for USA is a deciding fixture against Iran on Tuesday evening, kick-off 19:00 GMT.

Meanwhile, Senegal midfielder Cheikhou Kouyaté remains a doubt for their final Group A fixture against Ecuador, also on Tuesday (kick-off 15:00 GMT), after being forced off through injury during the opening game against the Netherlands.
