Steve Cooper says he's expecting a tough test against Aston Villa on Monday but insists all of his focus is on getting his side back on track infront of a sold out City Ground.

The Reds fell to defeat last time out against Leicester City, however after penning a new contract to commit his future to the club, Cooper is determined to bounce back after a tough run of results.

"We've looked at ourselves and realised the performance at Leicester was nowhere near good enough," said Cooper.

"The key now is attempting to put that right in the next game and although there's no guarentees we need to make sure we do everything we can to give ourselves a chance to improve.

"Villa are a team full of good players, I've got a lot of respect for Steven [Gerrard] and the job he's done since he started his coaching career.

"We have to be ready for the challenges that his team will pose but at this moment in time it's about us and about how we can get better and do everything we can to win a match at this level.

"It's a tough game but it's a Monday night game at The City Ground and we can't wait to play infront of our supporters again because they've been fantastic for us despite the results."
