Forest Women made it three wins from three in the Women’s National League North with a 2-0 victory over Liverpool Feds on Sunday.
Andy Cook named an unchanged starting line-up from the side which beat Fylde 2-0, with Gianna Mitchell and Amy West returning to the bench.
After making a bright start, Forest took a deserved lead inside 13 minutes. Charlotte Greengrass played in Mai Moncaster who raced through on goal and found the bottom corner to make it 1-0.
The Reds’ dominance continued before the break, with the dangerous Sophie Domingo cutting in from the left and seeing a shot tipped over the crossbar by the Liverpool goalkeeper.
On the stroke of half time, Forest were awarded a penalty when Domingo was quickest to react to a loose ball and was taken down inside the area.
Charlotte Steggles stepped up to send the goalkeeper the wrong way from 12 yards and double The Reds’ lead right before the whistle.
Moncaster had a chance to double her tally five minutes into the second half but saw her shot saved by the goalkeeper.
Towards the end of the contest, a mistake at the back allowed the Liverpool forward to shoot at an empty net, but Lyndsey Harkin recovered to make a goal line clearance.
The win was Forest’s third in three games with Andy Cook’s side keeping their third clean sheet in three games too.
