Forest Women faced Burnley in a top-of-the-table clash at Halbrooke Stadium in the Northern Premier Division.

Andy Cook made one change to the side that defeated Derby County at Pride Park the previous weekend with Amy West returning from injury, as Niamh Reynolds missed out through illness.

The hosts started brightly when Charlotte Greengrass worked an opportunity at goal in the 3rd minute.

There was more good work from The Reds’ top scorer as Greengrass played Sophie Domingo in on goal; the Burnley defence cleared well.

The Reds were rewarded for their good start when Greengrass was in the action again, once again finding Domingo in space. Domingo fired her strike into the top corner to give Forest the lead in the 17th minute.

Forest almost had their second in the 26th when Arryana Daniels couldn’t direct her strike towards goal from Lyndsey Harkin’s corner.

Andy Cook was forced into an early change in the 28th minute when Laura-Jayne O’Neill could not continue; Georgia Hewitt replaced the full back.

Amy West was the only Red to have an opportunity at goal with her long ranged effort in a quiet 15-minute spell for the hosts.

Half-time: Nottingham Forest 1-0 Burnley

Forest could not have started the second half any better when Domingo scored her second goal of the afternoon to double The Reds’ advantage seven minutes after the restart.

Burnley would have had their first goal of the game 0n 65 minutes if not for Reds’ ‘keeper Emily Batty brilliantly denying the visitors.

Forest’s head coach introduced Mai Moncaster and Gianna Mitchell in the 73rd minute with Amy West and Yasmin Mosby making way.

An instant impact from substitute Moncaster as the number 8 chipped the Burnley ‘keeper with an excellent strike with 5 minutes remaining.

Andy Cook made the final changes of the game as Naomi Powell and Rosetta Taylor replaced Charlotte Greengrass and Sophie Domingo.

Full-time: Nottingham Forest 3-0 Burnley

The Reds extended their lead at the top-of-the-table to seven points following their 3-0 win over Burnley at Halbrooke Stadium.
