Forest Women prepare for their final league away trip of the 2022-23 season as they travel to Yorkshire to face Brighouse Town on Sunday.
Brighouse currently sit fifth in the Northern Premier Division having won eight of their 20 league games this season.
Andy Cook’s side enter the game having won their three previous games scoring 10 goals and conceding none in the process.
Their most recent victory was a 5-0 win over West Brom in a dominant display at Halbrooke Stadium; Cook shared his thoughts on the game.
“To get a 5-0 win and a clean sheet heading into a weekend break was ideal. We are happy with how the preparations have gone over the weekend and this week so far ahead of Sunday’s game.”
Sunday’s trip to Yorkshire is Forest’s final league away fixture of the season; Cook spoke on the team’s performance on the road this campaign.
“I’ve been really pleased with our away from this season; we’ve managed to pick up some great results and some good displays across the season.”
“The standout games for me would be Huddersfield Town away and of course the win at Pride Park last month.”
The Reds recorded a 3-1 win against Sunday’s opposition in October with Niamh Reynolds, Charlotte Steggles and Hayley James on the scoresheet.
Cook is expecting a battle this Sunday as The Reds bid for their fourth consecutive league win.
“It will be a tough battle. They are a good side who are always set up well and are well-organised; we are going to have to be at our best to make sure we can match them through the 90 minutes.”
“I really respect them as a side. They have got some fantastic, quality players so we will have to be ready for that battle on Sunday.”
Andy Cook confirmed that Forest are set to be without full back Laura-Jayne O’Neill for the trip to West Yorkshire.
Kick-off is at 2pm and tickets are available to purchase on the day at Eccleshill United F.C starting from £2.
