Forest have completed the signing of goalkeeper Matt Turner, who arrives on a four-year deal from Arsenal to become The Reds' third summer signing.
Here's every word of the USA international's first interview since signing...
Matt Turner, welcome to Nottingham Forest, how does it feel to be here?
“It feels great to be here.
“It’s something I’m really looking forward to, it’s a great challenge and a great step in my career.
“I’m looking forward to making a connection with my teammates, the fans and the city.”
It must have been a whirlwind couple of days for you after winning the Community Shield with Arsenal and now signing for Forest?
“It has been a whirlwind.
“I always knew in the back of my mind that this was likely to happen. To be at Wembley was really cool and to lift a trophy with Arsenal was great, but I’m ready to set off on my own journey and pathway.
“I’m grateful to be here and get things started.”
What was it about Forest that made you want to come to the club?
“First of all, you look at the game that I was here for at The City Ground last year when Forest secured safety, and the atmosphere, the fans, the way the team was together and worked hard for each other, it just seemed like an attractive environment to be in.
“When I heard that there was interest to bring me here, it just felt right for my family, it felt right when my agent spoke to me about it and it feels like the right move for me right now.
“The manager and the backroom staff, everything about the club has a little sparkle to it. It’s felt right from the start and I’m happy it’s got done.”
How were discussions with Steve Cooper before you signed?
“They were great and he’s definitely had an influence on my decision to come here.
“Not only what he’s said to me, but the way other players I have spoken to who know him or have played for his teams speak about him and how he can relate to the players.
“I’m really excited to get to work with him and I’m eager to learn more and more.”
How excited are you to get playing at The City Ground?
“It will be much nicer to be a Forest player and be playing at The City Ground.
“To have those fans cheering for you and supporting you will be much nicer than them hating you!
“Even when I was here as an Arsenal player, I felt like the fans really respected me. I said to my wife after I got back from the game that it was an amazing atmosphere and you almost felt like they loved the competition and they supported everyone who was there.
“I heard some calling my names from the stands and I almost felt this weird connection to the ground and to the fans in that moment, so it’s really funny how it’s turned full circle.”
What can Forest fans expect to see from Matt Turner?
“The expectation they can have is that I’m going to go out there every single day in training, every single time I step onto the pitch, I’m going to wear my heart on my sleeve and give it my absolute all.
“I’m a talented shot-stopper, I have a lot of international experience and I’m just a fun-loving guy. I’m a father, I’m a husband and I’m just like the everyman’s man.
“I wasn’t created in one of these football factories, I had to teach myself a lot, I had to work my way through the ranks through some tough times, some good times and some bad times. I’m forged in fire as I like to say.
“I’m really looking forward for them to get to know me but also for me to get to know them.”
