Forest Women extended their lead at the top of the table to six points following a 4-2 win against Liverpool Feds.

Andy Cook made one change to the side that won at Huddersfield Town last weekend. Amy West returned to the starting line-up following an injury that had kept the midfielder out of the squad for the previous two fixtures.

The opening 15 minutes saw chances for both sides, with the best falling to Reds’ striker Charlotte Greengrass whose shot was brilliantly saved by the opposition ‘keeper.

On 24 minutes Yasmin Mosby was through on goal; her effort was well saved, although the rebound was picked up by Greengrass who fired home into an empty net for her 11th goal of the season.

The 29th and 32nd minutes saw chances for Sophie Domingo and Charlotte Steggles with a shot wide of the far post and a header wide for the latter.

Forest were rewarded for their constant pressure when Domingo topped off an excellent run with a brilliant finish, slotted into the far corner on 33 minutes.

Domingo had another chance for The Reds before half-time which was deflected wide off an opposition defender as Forest went into the break with a two lead.

The Reds continued where they left off in the opening 45 with Yasmin Mosby and Hayley James both having good chances to increase their lead against Feds.

In the 55th minute, Steggles scored her fifth goal in the her last four games with an excellent strike from long range.

The hosts quickly responded with a long range effort of their own, only a minute after Steggles scored The Reds’ third goal of the game.

Mai Moncaster and Mosby worked well together to create a chance for the Forest number nine who fired inches wide on 61 minutes.

Andy Cook looked to the bench in the 65th and 78th minutes with Laura-Jayne O’Neill and Niamh Reynolds replacing Amy West and goalscorer Charlotte Greengrass.

The visitors restored their three goal lead in the 86th minute when Domingo scored her second goal of the game with a brilliant finish into the bottom corner.

Cook again looked to the freshen up his side in the 87th minute by introducing Rosetta Taylor, Naomi Powell and Lauren Purchase for Steggles, James and Domingo.

The hosts added their second of the afternoon in injury time which ended up being the final action of the game.
