One of the hottest prospects in world football, Danilo, arrived at The City Ground on Monday evening following a transfer from Brazilian side Palmeiras.

The 21-year-old made 141 appearances during his time with the Série A club, many of those coming alongside 2022 Golden Ball winner Gustavo Scarpa who also joined The Reds earlier this month.

Speaking about their friendship, Danilo says he's excited to be teaming up with Scarpa again on Trentside and acknowledges he'll play a big part in him settling into life in Nottingham.

"It was decisive in my choice, I'd already chosen Nottingham Forest and Scarpa just gave me that additional nudge. I'm really grateful to him, he's helped me ever since I originally arrived at Palmeiras.

"Now we're teammates again at Forest and it's exciting. Hopefully we'll have some glory years together here. He has also given me a couple of Rubik's Cubes, I finished one with him already and there's another still to do.

"Gustavo listens to music in English and speaks the language well, so he's told me to get practising! I started learning and then had a break, but I'll be learning with him now over time."

Danilo and Scarpa are also joined in the Forest squad by Brazil international full-back Renan Lodi after the 24-year-old arrived on loan from Atletico Madrid in August, another player who Danilo admits will help his transition into the top tier of English football.

"It's really good to have two Brazilians and both Gustavo and Renan are communicating well in English now. This will help me a lot to understand what the manager wants from me, and to communicate with my teammates as well."
