The Reds faced Sunderland AFC at Grange Park in their third pre-season friendly ahead of the 2023/24 season.
Before kick-off both sides observed a minute’s silence to pay tribute to Trevor Francis and Chris Bart-Williams.
It was a strong start for the hosts with a positive opening ten minutes as the score remained goalless.
Forest opened the scoring in the 24th minute after some great work between Hayley James and a trialist to find another trialist who fired home into the far corner.
There was no opportunity of note before the half-time whistle as The Reds went into the break with a one goal lead.

Charlotte Greengrass forced a good save from the Sunderland ‘keeper two minutes after the restart following some good work from Mai Moncaster to find the striker in the box.
The Reds caught the visitors on the break with a trialist picking out Greengrass out wide, who whipped in a low cross into the box which Moncaster couldn’t quite direct towards goal.
Emily Batty was forced into a great stop to keep the scores level after a dangerous corner was delivered into the box by Sunderland.
Forest almost had their second of the afternoon following some good work between two trialists with the opposition ‘keeper producing a good save to keep the hosts’ lead to one.
With ten minutes remaining of the match Batty produced an excellent save with Sunderland through in on goal.
