Forest Women will look to extend their lead at the top of the Northern Premier Division at Loughborough Lightning on Thursday night.

Thursday night’s opponents current sit bottom of the table, 12 points adrift from safety having suffered a 3-0 loss to Stoke City in their previous league fixture.

Andy Cook’s side face their second away game in five days following their 10-1 win over Boldmere St. Michaels on Sunday and Head Coach Andy Cook shared his thoughts on The Reds’ impressive win.

“We dominated all areas of play and progressed the ball well along the sides; it was pleasing to see. Arryana Daniels and Laura-Jayne O’Neill were fantastic out wide and Becky Anderson, Amy West and Charlotte Steggles dominated the midfield.”

This win is a great platform for ourselves to push on and take this form into the final stages of the season.”

The Reds ran out 4-1 winners against Loughborough in the reverse fixture at Halbrooke Stadium in October; Cook expects another challenging game for his side.

“I think it will be a tough game. Loughborough have a new manager, a new focus and set of goals; they will want to finish their season as well as possible.”

“We’re expecting a tough, resilient and resolute Loughborough side and we need to be ready for that battle and the threats that they pose.”

Cook confirmed that Forest will be without Hayley James and Sophie Domingo again as the duo continue their recovery from recent injuries.

Kick-off is at 7:45pm at Loughborough University Stadium on Thursday 16th March.
