The Reds made the short journey to Pride Park to face Derby County in the Northern Premier Division as the visitors looked to return to winnings ways.

Andy Cook made three changes to the side that drew against Loughborough Lightning as Arryana Daniels and Niamh Reynolds replaced Georgia Hewitt and Amy West. While Sophie Domingo made her return from injury, replacing Mai Moncaster in the starting eleven.

It was a lively start to the East Midlands Derby as both sides came close in the opening five minutes, with Sophie Domingo and Charlotte Greengrass had chances to score.

Derby almost broke the deadlock in the 8th minute if it wasn’t for Reds’ ‘keeper Emily Batty making a brilliant stop to keep the scores level.

Domingo worked another opportunity at goal in the 11th minute as Yasmin Mosby found her effort saved by The Rams’ ‘keeper.

Another chance for The Reds in the 19th minute as Charlotte Steggles found Mosby in the box with a long throw; the striker set up Niamh Reynolds whose shot was deflected behind for a corner.

Greengrass rounded the Derby ‘keeper on 21 minutes, however her effort was brilliantly blocked by an opposition defender.

Forest finally had their goal in the 29th minute when Lyndsey Harkin found Steggles in space at the back post with a corner. The number 6 headed home from close range to give The Reds the lead.

The hosts had a chance of their own in the 43rd minute when Emilia Wilson fired her strike over the Forest bar.

Half-time: Derby County 0-1 Nottingham Forest

The Reds started the second half as they finished the first 45 as Greengrass doubled Forest’s lead with her 21st goal of the season. Domingo drifted past multiple Rams’ defenders and then found Greengrass in space, the striker fired home in the box.

Steggles looked to score her second of the afternoon with an effort from long range which the ‘keeper comfortably claimed.

Andy Cook looked to the bench in the 74th minute as Naomi Powell and Mai Moncaster replaced Niamh Reynolds and Yasmin Mosby.

Greengrass almost had her brace when her strike was brilliantly tipped over the bar by the ‘keeper in the 77th minute.

With 10 minutes remaining Georgia Hewitt, Amy West and Rosetta Taylor were introduced with Sophie Domingo, Laura-Jayne O’Neill and Charlotte Greengrass replaced.

The Reds extend their lead at the top of the Northern Premier Division to four points with a visit from second place Burnley to Halbrooke Stadium awaiting on Sunday 2nd April.
