Forest Women Head Coach Carly Davies spoke ahead of Sunday's cup tie at Grange Park.

Tickets are available for the FA Cup clash from £1 here as The Reds take on Sporting Khalsa.

Watch and read what Davies had to say below.

On Newcastle defeat…

Forest Women suffered a narrow defeat at The City Ground with almost 5,000 in attendance, Davies shared her praise of the team's performance on Trentside.

“I was immensely proud of our performance. Some of the football on display, particularly in the first 45 minutes, showed the growth of the group and the style of football we are trying to build at the club.

We were disappointed to not take anything from the game, but we have to take the positives from it and the first-half was a massive positive for us.”

On Becky Anderson…

Becky Anderson has enjoyed good season so far with the second-highest minutes played in the squad.

“Becky is a vital part of what we are trying to do; that’s why she’s played almost every minute of the season so far.

She has taken onboard what we have asked of her, she’s playing a slightly different position to what she has done previously. We are asking her to get on the ball more in central areas, which means playing under a lot of pressure.

She is thriving under that level of pressure. There’s areas of her game that she is keen to keep developing as well and I want to help her to do that. She will certainly be important to us this campaign.”

Update on the squad…

Davies provided an update on the condition of the squad after a physically-demanding match at The City Ground.

“They’re in a good place, obviously disappointed (with the previous result), and mentally that can take it out of players sometimes, but it’s my job and the coaching staff to lift them.

We’ve got an important FA Cup fixture this weekend which is another chance to progress in a great competition. Generally, the players are in a good physical condition and just need to go again this weekend.”

On squad rotation…

In the previous round of the FA Cup, Davies made five changes to the starting eleven; the Head Coach spoke on further rotation this weekend.

“They’ll be some players that we want to get more minutes, and players that we want to have another look at in certain areas.

The squad are in a decent place and there is some real competition for places at the moment, which is a great place for us to be in.

We will certainly change some players; I think a few players could do with a well-earned rest as well, but we are not going to take Sunday’s game lightly.”

On Sporting Khalsa…

The Reds' take on Division One Midlands side Sporting Khalsa this weekend in the second round tie.

“Sporting Khalsa are doing well this season in their league, and we will respect that, make sure we are disciplined and won’t expect just to turn up and roll over a team – you have to work for what you want.

Khalsa will be physical; they’re going to come at us and will be difficult to break down. As always we will focus on ourselves and what’s expected of us as individuals and collectively as a team; if we do that, I’m positive and confident that we can get the result we want.”
