Forest Women progress to the second round of the FAWNL Cup following win against Wolves.
Carly Davies made two changes to the starting eleven with both Laura-Jayne O’Neill and Abi Cowie making their first starts of the season.
It was a bright start for the hosts as Nat Johnson picked out Mai Moncaster through in on goal; Moncaster’s strike was just wide of the far post.
The deadlock was broken in the 12th minute by Holly Manders as the midfielder’s strike found the back of the Wolves net.
Just before the half hour mark and Carly Davies was forced into an early change as Hayley James left the field and Olivia Cook entered the action.
Minutes before the half-time whistle and Wolves had a flurry of chances within the Forest box. The defence held strong and maintained the one-goal advantage.

It was a quiet start to the second 45 with a tight battle in midfield for possession, Wolves had the best opportunity of the opening 20 minutes as a strike from distance hit the woodwork.
Manders chased down a loose ball to then pick out a Johnson in the box with a low cross, the defender fired over from close range.
Abi Cowie made way for Chloe Dixon with ten minutes remaining in the League Cup tie.
With seven minutes remaining in the tie Forest were awarded a penalty for a foul on Thomas; Manders made no mistake from 12 yards to double The Reds’ lead.
Forest made their final change in the 90th minute as Niamh Reynolds was introduced with Thomas making way.
