Nottingham Forest is delighted to announce the signing of Bologna captain Nicolás Domínguez.

The midfielder has signed a five-year contract, joining in a deal which sees Remo Freuler move in the opposite direction.

Domínguez has played 11 times for Argentina since making his international debut against Chile in September 2019.

The 25-year-old began his career in his native country, coming through the ranks at Vélez Sarsfield and going on to play 84 times for the Argentinian outfit.

In 2019, Domínguez made the move to Bologna, returning on loan to Vélez Sarsfield during his first season in Italy before going on to become an integral player for the Serie A side.

Last season, the tenacious midfielder made 34 appearances, adding three goals as Bologna narrowly missed out on European football.

At 25, Domínguez arrives with plenty of experience having made over 200 career appearances at international and domestic level and becomes Forest’s eighth signing of the summer.

Domínguez will wear the number 16 shirt during his time on Trentside.

Nicolás Domínguez said: "It feels amazing to join a club with so much history in England and the Premier League.

"I watched the game Forest played against Sheffield United, I saw the fans in the stadium and it attracted me.

"I'm over the moon and keen to embrace this challenge."

Forest's Chief Football Officer, Ross Wilson said: Nicolas showed a real desire to join Nottingham Forest, amongst the many options that he had.

"He joins having amassed some excellent experience in Argentina and Italy and we are pleased to see him join today."
