Forest Women Head Coach Carly Davies previews tomorrow return to Grange Park.
The Reds have opened the season with three wins from three, Davies shared her thoughts on her first few games in charge.
“It's been a busy period, but a positive one. The players have been brilliant in terms of their application on and off the field. It makes your job easier when the players do their part.”
“There has been a lot of information thrown at them in a short space of time and they have taken to that in a very positive way. The group are ambitious, they want to learn, improve, and ultimately push on to win the league.”
Forest have only conceded one goal this season, scoring 16 in the process, the Head Coach spoke on The Reds’ defence.
“The players where aware from our very first meeting what was expected of them defensively. We want to limit chances on our goal as much as possible and that comes from being organised first and foremost, doing our homework on the opposition's strengths and how we nullify that as a team and defensive unit.”
“They pride themselves on clean sheets and being hard to break down. That doesn't just happen, it comes with hard work, perseverance, and a desire to win your individual duels. They are getting better each week and its pleasing for me to see as the coach.”
Reds’ striker Charlotte Greengrass has started the season in top form with five goals in three games for the number 22.
“I knew Charlotte was always going to score goal for the team, we seen her do it last season and she will continue to do it this season.”
“She is physically strong, can play of both feet and has a real desire to do well. There are areas of her game she wants to improve, and areas I want to help her develop. That will only make her better and ultimately better for the team going forward.”
Forest face AFC Fylde this weekend, Davies previewed the league clash.
“I was impressed with them (AFC Fylde), particularly their game against Newcastle. You can see they are trying to do the right things. They have some good young exciting players. The team caused Newcastle problems in the first half and arguably would have felt hard done by going into the first half 1-0 down as they created some very good chances.”
“We know the threats they pose; they have quick forwards, they will try and switch play on you quickly and catch you in counter attacking moments, so we know we are going to have to manage transition well to ensure we don't allow them those moments.”
Back at Grange Park this Sunday, Carly spoke on how have the players settled into their new home.
“It's been a comfortable transition for the club and players. The ground is well run, the pitch is of a very good standard and the players seem to have made it home. We want to make Grange Park a very difficult place for the opposition to come.”
“Home advantage is huge in the game and with the support we get from the fans, the players will only relish in that atmosphere. I hope this weekend will be another example of that and we can give the fans and exciting game to watch and get behind the players. I'm looking forward to getting back there and hopefully securing 3 points.”
