Forest B Team began their Premier League International Cup campaign with a 3-1 defeat to PSV Eindhoven.
The current title holders asserted their dominance throughout the first half, first coming close through Iggy Houben who curled a left-footed effort just wide from 20 yards.
George Shelvey was forced into action midway through the first half twice in quick succession, first saving Joey van den Berg’s half-volley from close-range, and then denying Julian Kwaaitaal shortly after.
But PSV made their pressure count as they took the lead on 33 minutes. Following good work down the left-hand side, Jesper Uneken’s deft flick at the near post looped over Shelvey and found the far corner for 1-0.
Forest, who struggled to make the most of their possession in the first half, did come close right before the whistle. Jack Perkins won possession in a dangerous position before finding Esapa Osong, but the striker’s close-range effort was smothered well.
HALF-TIME: Forest B 0-1 Jong PSV
Forest looked to ignite a response early in the second half, seeing plenty of the ball in the opposition third.
But with their first real attack of the second half, PSV doubled their lead. Captain Mohamed Nassoh found space on the edge of the area before driving a left-footed strike into the bottom corner for 2-0.
Forest looked to respond as Osong played in Joe Gardner who rattled the post before the flag was raised for offside.
Josh Powell then found space in-behind the defence down the left channel but his effort was kept out at the near post by Kjell Peersman.
Joyce made two changes as Manni Norkett and Julian Larsson replaced Konaté and Gardner with ten minutes left to play.
But the visitors added a third goal moments later, with Renzo Tytens firing a strong left-footed effort in at the near post for 3-0.
Forest did find a consolation through an own-goal as Josh Powell’s dangerous cross was turned into his own net by a PSV defender in the fourth minute of stoppage time.
