Nottingham Forest is delighted to announce the signing of James Ward-Prowse from West Ham United.

The midfielder has joined on a loan deal until the end of the 2024/25 season.

Known for his outstanding dead-ball deliveries and passing range, Ward-Prowse arrives with a wealth of experience having made 381 appearances in the Premier League.

The 29-year-old made 37 top-flight appearances for West Ham last season, registering seven goals and seven assists, supplying a further four assists in the UEFA Europa League.

The move to London last summer came on the back of an impressive individual campaign for Southampton, where he scored nine goals and added four assists despite the Saints’ relegation from the Premier League.

His departure from St. Mary’s brought an end to his lengthy association with Southampton, for whom he made 410 appearances for after joining the academy at the age of eight.

An 11-time England international, Ward-Prowse made his senior debut for the Three Lions against Germany in 2017, scoring a first goal for his country against San Marino in 2021.

After signing on loan for Forest, Ward-Prowse said: “I’m delighted to be here. When I knew I had the opportunity to join the Club and come and show what I can do, I thought it was a fantastic opportunity.”

“Having played Nottingham Forest a few times, the atmosphere here is one of the best I’ve played in in the Premier League, so to now hopefully experience that week in, week out is something really special.”

Chief Football Officer, Ross Wilson added: “We're thrilled to welcome James Ward-Prowse to Nottingham Forest this evening.

“Everyone is familiar with James’ talent in the Premier League, along with his strong leadership and personal qualities.

“He is someone I’ve known for a long time, and as soon as the opportunity to bring James here arose, Nuno and our ownership moved quickly.

“We’re confident he’ll make an immediate impact both on and off the pitch, and we look forward to him joining up with the squad.”
