Nottingham Forest is delighted to announce the signing of Morato from Benfica.

The defender has joined on a five-year-deal which runs until the summer of 2029.

A powerful left-sided defender, Morato arrives having made 35 appearances across all competitions for Benfica last season, including playing five times in the UEFA Champions League.

Born in Brazil, Morato came through the ranks at São Paulo, his birthplace, before moving to Benfica in September 2019, making his first team debut just three months later.

The Brazilian went on to make 86 appearances for Benfica, winning the Primeira Liga with the Portuguese side in the 2022/23 season.

Chief Football Officer, Ross Wilson said: “Morato has been in our thoughts and discussions to come into the squad for several transfer windows, and we’re delighted to have him join us today.

“We’re sure he’ll feel at home here in Nottingham and he will quickly become embedded and integrated as part of the squad.”
