Nottingham Forest defeated West Ham United 2-0 at The City Ground on Saturday afternoon thanks to goals from Taiwo Awoniyi and Callum Hudson-Odoi.
Awoniyi scored on the stroke of half-time before Hudson-Odoi sealed the three points in second-half stoppage time, with the visitors seeing on-loan midfielder Kalvin Phillips sent off after 71 minutes.
Nuno Espírito Santo's side controlled the game from the off and forced Hammers goalkeeper Alphonse Areola into a series of good saves before finally breaking the deadlock.
Anthony Elanga was set up nicely by Nuno Tavares in the opening minutes but could only direct his effort straight at the goalkeeper from close range.
A Nico Domínguez effort later fell to the feet of Morgan Gibbs-White who also saw his attempt saved, before Michail Antonio led a dangerous counter-attack only to be denied by a brilliant Murillo tackle.
Forest finally found the net moments before the break as an incisive Domínguez pass found Awoniyi, who turned beyond Nayef Aguerd and finished coolly past Areola into the bottom corner.
In the second half the visitors' goalkeeper made further saves to deny Elanga again and Danilo from distance, with Awoniyi also going close to scoring a second with a header.
West Ham were then reduced to ten men when Phillips picked up two yellow cards in quick succession midway through the half.
Neco Williams was denied what looked like a clear penalty when Maxwel Cornet stepped on his foot in the box, but neither referee Tom Bramall nor the VAR deemed the incident unlawful.
Danilo then saw another long-range effort deflect into the net only for the goal to be ruled out as Ryan Yates was in an offside position.
Hudson-Odoi finally doubled the lead in the dying moments with his third goal in as many Premier League games, finishing clinically at the back post after nice play from Divock Origi and Williams.
