Morgan Gibbs-White is pleased with the significant early progress made under new Forest head coach Nuno Espírito Santo after a momentous victory over Manchester United.

The midfielder scored the winning goal against the Red Devils and insists the team are now looking forward and collectively buying into Espírito Santo’s philosophy.

“He’s a big personality and he's come in, brought his own ideas, and the players are really believing in him, believing in the process,” said Gibbs-White.

“We've just got to stick with him, because like you've seen at St. James’ Park and [against Manchester United], we're trusting in his plan and it's working. So we've just got to keep believing and keep growing as a team. Things are looking up.”

The Manchester United win made it back-to-back victories for Forest for the first time this season, and it would have been three wins from three under Espírito Santo had it not been for key decisions going against Forest in the Bournemouth game.

“It’s incredible. Nights at the city ground, three points against Manchester United, it doesn't get much better than that,” continued Gibbs-White.

“It’s been a tough, busy Christmas period, but the boys have been absolutely fantastic. Even in the Bournemouth game, I felt like we deserved so much more. And then to go to St. James’ Park and win 3-1 there was absolutely outstanding.

“Then again against Manchester United, to win the way we did and to stick to the game plan how we did, real credit to the boys for believing in the game plan. I think the only way now is forward.”

Forest have scored seven times in three games under Espírito Santo and Gibbs-White feels the manner of the goals against Manchester United summed up the style of their new head coach.

“I feel like the goals showed what the manager really wants,” added the 23-year-old. “He wants a playing team, but also an aggressive team, and we showcased that [against Manchester United].”
