Forest were defeated by Brentford in an entertaining five-goal contest in West London on Saturday night.

Nuno Espírito Santo made two changes to the side which beat Blackpool in midweek, with Matt Turner and Gonzalo Montiel replacing Odysseas Vlachodimos and Neco Williams in the starting line-up.

The Reds started well and took the lead in incredible style inside three minutes. A loose clearance fell for Danilo who controlled the ball with his left foot before firing an excellent volley into the corner with his right.

Brentford came fighting back though and found an equaliser as Ivan Toney found the bottom corner with a free kick from the edge of the area on 19 minutes.

With both sides having chances in the first half, it was Brentford who took the lead just before the hour as Ben Mee headed home from Mathias Jensen’s corner.

Seven minutes later though, it was Forest’s turn to equalise. Callum Hudson-Odoi’s in-swinging cross was perfectly weighted for Chris Wood to glance in a header for his sixth goal in six matches.

Brentford ignited a quick response once again though, with Neal Maupay’s turn and finish putting the Bees ahead just three minutes later.

Orel Mangala came close to finding a leveller for Forest late on as he lashed an effort wide from Wood’s lay-off, but after ten minutes of added time, the hosts hung onto their lead and three points.
