Forest defeated Chesterfield 3-0 at the SMH Group Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Reds scored three second-half goals to begin pre-season with a victory over the League Two side, courtesy of strikes from Chris Wood, Josh Bowler and Ibrahim Sangaré.

Nuno Espírito Santo’s side had plenty of good moments in the opening 45 minutes, with Chesterfield having goalkeeper Ryan Boot to thank throughout the match.

The shot-stopper pulled off a superb save to deny Emmanuel Dennis inside six minutes, before keeping out Anthony Elanga's effort inside the area minutes later.

Forest came closest in the first half through Nico Domínguez, who on 12 minutes intercepted a loose pass across the field before striking the post from the edge of the area.

Having gone in level at the break however, Forest broke the deadlock on 67 minutes. Callum Hudson-Odoi played a beautifully weighted ball in-behind the Chesterfield defence for Wood, who rounded the goalkeeper before coolly slotting into the empty net.

Forest doubled their lead not long after. Following good work down the left, Chesterfield were unable to clear Ola Aina's low cross with any real conviction, allowing the well-placed Josh Bowler to hammer home from a central position inside the area for 2-0.

In the latter stages of the contest, Forest added a third goal through Sangaré as the Ivorian rose highest to head home from Hudson-Odoi's cross, rounding off a successful afternoon for The Reds.
