Nottingham Forest is delighted to announce the signing of Charlie Wellings.
Wellings joins Carly Davies’ side on a one-year deal from Reading ahead of the 2024/25 season.
The forward arrives at The City Ground having played in the top divisions in both England and Scotland.
Wellings came through the ranks at Birmingham City, before joining Women’s Super League side Bristol City, where the forward stayed for 2 years.
The now 26-year-old made the move across the border to Scottish Women’s Premier League team Celtic. Wellings enjoyed a successful stint in Glasgow, scoring 40 times in just 34 appearances as well as winning the Scottish Cup, SWPL Cup and being named in the PFA Scotland Team of the Year in 2021/22.
In July 2022 Wellings returned to the WSL, signing for Reading, where the forward remained until her arrival on Trentside.
With 10 England caps at under-20 and under-21 level, Wellings has experience with the Young Lionesses, achieving a third-place finish and bronze medal at the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup in 2018.
Nottingham Forest Women Head Coach, Carly Davies, added: “We are thrilled to have Charlie at the Club. She comes with great pedigree and experience, having played in the WSL, Women’s Championship and SWPL.
“Charlie operates in a way that suits our playing style and she certainly knows where the net is.”
Upon signing, Wellings said: “It’s an amazing feeling, there are massive ambitions at the Club and that is something I'm definitely looking forward to being a part of.”
