Nottingham Forest is delighted to announce that Ryan Yates has signed a new contract and committed his future to the Club.
The homegrown midfielder has extended his 19-year association with the Club, putting pen to paper on a new four-year deal which runs until the summer of 2028, with the Club holding a one-year extension option.
Yates, who joined the Forest Academy at the age of eight, has since gone on to make 203 appearances for the Club across all competitions.
The 26-year-old had loan spells with Barrow, Notts County and Scunthorpe United before making his Forest debut in 2019. Building on from the 2021/22 season where he scored nine goals to help Forest win promotion, he has since established himself as an integral player in the Premier League.
Upon The Reds’ return to the Premier League, Yates was named vice-captain and has worn the armband on several occasions, making 61 appearances in the Premier League.
Yates made 35 appearances in the Premier League last season, and his goal in a crucial away win at Sheffield United meant that he had scored in each of England’s top five divisions, emphasising his impressive rise over the past six years.
The combative midfielder is now set to embark on another chapter with the Club, and after extending his contract, he said: "I'm absolutely buzzing and can't wait for the season to start now.
“Having been here for so long, I really understand what the Club means to people who have worked here for many years, the supporters and just Nottingham in general.
“Every time I put the shirt on and wear the armband, I just look to reflect what this Club is all about and what this city is all about with my performances on the pitch.”
Chief Football Officer, Ross Wilson said: “It goes without saying that we are thrilled to have reached this agreement with Ryan which sees him continue his journey at Nottingham Forest. He’s someone our fans admire, and I know how much the Club means to him.
“Our owner drives unity throughout the Club and undoubtedly Ryan is a huge part of that togetherness, and he will be crucial as we continue to strive forwards together.”
